Staff inbox: In 1973, Wizzard's "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday" narrowly missed the number one spot in the Christmas charts, losing to Slade's "Merry Xmas Everybody." Fifty years later, a cover of the song by TikTok supergroup Creator Universe is among the leading contenders for the 2023 Christmas number one. Songwriter Roy Wood, now 76, is urging fans to support the song to finally get revenge on Slade frontman Noddy Holder, with whom he had a friendly rivalry.
