Rudder Lady Rangers won their first game of the Aggieland Invitational over Nacogdoches with a score of 70-60. The team's head coach, Karla Calhoun, made adjustments in the game plan to respond to the ebbs and flows of the game, which paid off. The Lady Rangers used a full-court press defense to create turnovers and secure rebounds. Guard Christionna Ellis attributed the team's success to the full-court pressure defense and the backcourt's wingspan, which allowed them to tip passes and steal the ball. Ellis finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Calhoun praised her ability to post up and finish plays. Both teams were even through the first quarter, but Rudder's press eventually got to the Lady Dragons.
