The K-Fashion Ecosystem Goes Global

Musinsa: The K-Fashion Ecosystem Goes Global

In a significant development for Korea's fashion industry, the K-fashion ecosystem is expanding globally, with increasing recognition and recognition from global brands. According to Mun-il Han, CEO of the Seoul-based fashion marketplace Musinsa, the industry's growth is largely attributed to the recent surge in popularity of K-films and series.

Han recalls that when he joined Musinsa in 2018, it was uncommon for CEOs or top executives of global brands to visit Seoul, and even if they did, they wouldn't stay long. However, Musinsa has taken a proactive approach by focusing on the sellers, including 8,000 local and global brands selling their apparel and footwear on its Korean platform or via its app. The company has also implemented initiatives to connect sellers directly with customers, such as its first-ever "Musinsa Season Preview" event, where customers could share their thoughts on Spring/Summer 2024 collections from 30 local brands.
