'City officials silent amidst shooting that injured Police Chief and wife

OPELOUSAS, La. — Several questions surrounding a shooting that left the Opelousas Police Chief and his wife, a St. Landry Parish Sheriff's deputy, injured, remain unanswered.

The KATC newsroom received several messages concerning the incident. We took those concerns to city officials for answers as to what led to the shooting. I spent most of the day tracking down Opelousas Mayor Julius Alsandor, the Opelousas Police Department, and the Sheriff's Office.

'Owner of spilled alligator meat gives back to the community

EUNICE, La. — We have an update on the alligator meat story! We found the owner and caught up with him several months after the accident.

"First, I had about eight calls from friends, and they were like, is that your alligator meat? And I was like, what?" said Jeff DeRouen.
