Robes Give Haywards Heath Rugby Club Girls a Boost:

In an effort to support the growing number of girls participating in rugby, Haywards Heath Rugby Club has introduced warm and waterproof robes from ddipp sports. According to Melissa Whybrow, co-founder of ddipp sports robes, many girls drop out of sports during their teenage years due to a lack of suitable changing facilities. The robes provided by ddipp sports are designed to provide a comfortable and convenient changing experience for the girls, helping to encourage them to continue playing the sport they love.

Haywards Heath RFC has seen a significant increase in the number of girls participating in their rugby squad, with the club's head of girls' rugby, Kevin McDonald, commenting that the new squad polo shirts and ddipp® changing robes are creating a strong collective identity that is helping to attract more girls to the club. The club is also in the process of building a new multi-sport clubhouse at Whitemans Green, which will provide dedicated changing spaces for home and away teams for men, women, and boys' and girls' youth teams.

Girls' rugby is growing in popularity, with the number of women playing rugby increasing from 25,000 to 40,000 in past five years alone, with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) aiming for this number to increase to 100,000 by 2027.

The old clubhouse was full for lunch to mark presentation to the girls' squads of U12s and U14s of polo shirts and robes, the latter provided with the support of Freshmills and Edwards.

Nearly £2m has already ben raised to build the new clubhouse, a fundraising effort that includes the continued support and generosity of local business partners Adelphi, Pets Corner and Kalimex, plus recent much appreciated financial support from Ansty and Staplefield Parish Council.
