New London wrapped up the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I girls' basketball title with a 58-45 victory over Fitch on Saturday. Serenity Lancaster, Nyarah Dudley, and Ky-Ani Allgood each had a double-double for the Whalers, with Lancaster scoring 14 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, blocking four shots, and dishing out four assists.
Dudley added 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Allgood scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Jaidelis Rivera also contributed with five rebounds and five assists. New London improved to 13-4 overall and 6-1 in the ECC with the win.
In other girls' basketball action, NFA beat Hand 51-44 in a nonleague game.
Emily Orcutt led the Wildcats with 16 points, while Navaeh Yorke scored 12 and Jordyn Kay-Kent added 10. ( )
