Her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, has been released today (17 May) and the glowing reviews are pouring in - as well as some shock at the lyrics.

Hit Me Hard and Soft features 10 songs, none of which have been previously released as singles, so fans have had a lot to sink their teeth into.

She told the outlet: ⁘I love [women] so much. I love them as people. I'm attracted to them as people. I'm attracted to them for real."

Billie then followed up her comments, which Variety noted she didn't 'miss a beat' when making, in December that same year.

She said : ⁘I kind of thought, 'Wasn't it obvious?' I didn't realise people didn't know. I just don't really believe in it. I'm just like, 'Why can't we just exist'? I've been doing this for a long time, and I just didn't talk about it. Whoops."

Billie then added: "But I saw the article, and I was like, 'Oh I guess I came out today.' OK cool. It's exciting to me because I guess people didn't know, but it's cool that they know⁘, before quipping: ⁘I am for the girls.⁘

Clips of Billie performing 'Lunch', a song about lusting for another woman, at Coachella went viral, with people eagerly anticipating the song's release.
