Apartment Three, a unit at an aparthotel in London, has a slightly larger floorplan and its own small garden, making it ideal for bigger families. It has sensitive scenery and steep steps. The apartment's amenities include a shower with feeble water pressure and an internet connection that is slightly eccentric. Guests are not supposed to open the doors onto the balcony... but this rule is not strictly enforced.

Occasionally, though, it is fun to tip the scales and take just one of them away for a weekend, which is why the 10-year-old and I set about planning a girls-only break. I found just the place. Aparthotels, I've always thought, are perfect for family city breaks. Especially in London. Apartment Three, downstairs, has similarly sensitive scenery, a slightly larger floorplan and its own small garden, making it ideal for bigger families (though watch out for the steep steps).
