Paris Fashion Week's Spring → Summer 2025 showcases have been marked by a notable trend: the increased nudity on runways. As expected, designers like Chloé and Rabanne continued their risqué paths, pushing the boundaries of modesty with their see-through designs. However, even those who are not typically known for their daring approach, such as Dior and Victoria Beckham, opted for more revealing designs this season.
One notable show was Chloé's, which featured models strutting down the catwalk in sheer pantaloons and ruffly sheer bras that left little to the imagination. The brand's tendency towards a '70s-era hippie aesthetic was evident, with models donning Victorian-inspired drawers and contemporary updates on the look.
Stella McCartney's designs also took center stage... with ethereal dresses and lacy chiffon confections that billowed in the wind. One particularly striking look featured a model pairing lingerie with office-appropriate pinstripe trousers, resulting in a corporate sleaze that was both chic and daring. Nina Ricci's Spring → Summer 2025 show, designed by Harris Reed, showcased the designer's flair for dramatic silhouettes, albeit with a slightly more toned-down approach. One notable look featured a sheer lacy design, complete with a poofy skirt and exaggerated statement hat. The doll aesthetic, which made its mark in the fall, also continued to be present... with Cecilie Bahnsen's frilly runway a testament to this trend.
While some of the designs may have been provocative, others were simply Jaw-dropping. Torsos were left completely diaphanous, "resulting in a level of spiciness that was hard to ignore." According to Bustle, "the increasing nudity on runways is just one of many trends that emerged during Paris Fashion Week."
It's official: Each leg of fashion month gets nipplier by the city . Paris Fashion Week seemingly saw the nip-forward runways of its international counterparts ( New York , London , and Milan), and raised it one better. Although nip-baring runways are nothing new, a few shows were still able to amp up the shock value. Some designers who have always been saucy, like Chloé and Rabanne, continued on their risqué path with ethereal diaphanous numbers and skin-peering chainlink looks, respectively. Others who ordinarily teeter on modesty, like Dior and Victoria Beckham, embraced the racy memo this Spring/Summer 2025 season with their takes on see-through fabrications.
