John Lennon's 1962 Love Letter To Cynthia Powell Up For Auction

A remarkably personal letter penned by John Lennon in 1962 is poised to fetch a handsome sum at auction. The missive, scribbled over the course of five consecutive evenings, captures the musician's fervent emotions as he expressed his ardor to his future spouse, Cynthia Powell. Composed during the Beatles' residency in Hamburg, the letter radiates Lennon's exuberance and longing.

At the tender age of 21, he poured his heart out to Powell, declaring, "I love love love you and I'm missing you like mad … I wish I was on the way to your flat with the Sunday papers and chocies and a throbber." The letter also reveals Lennon's growing frustration with his bandmate, Paul McCartney. He lambasted McCartney's incessant snoring, writing... "Paul's leaping about on my head (he's in a bunk on top of me and he's snoring) … Shurrup Mcarntey [sic]!"
