Biography of Yoona ### Early --- and Career Lim Yoon-ah, known professionally as Yoona, was born on August 31, 1990, in Gwangju, South Korea. She rose to fame as a member of the popular South Korean girl group Girls' Generation (SNSD), formed by SM Entertainment in 2007. Yoona made her acting debut in 2010 with a supporting role in the television series "You Are My Everything."
