NFL Season Kicks Off With Controversy: Spitting Incident Sparks Heated Debate

The NFL season kicked off with a bang, or rather, a spit. The Philadelphia Eagles' first game against the Dallas Cowboys on September 4 was off to a wild start, with Eagles fullback Ben VanSumeren carted off with a knee injury on the opening kickoff. But that was only the beginning. Defensive tackle Jalen Carter then got into a heated exchange with Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, which culminated in Carter spitting on Prescott. Jason Kelce, the retired Eagles star, had a thing or two to say about the incident on his social media platform, X. "This is the most wild start to an NFL season of all time," he wrote.

"First play of the game, one player is carted off, the other ejected." According to People. com, Kelce was not holding back in his assessment. He added, "I mean everyone knows you don't spit, you swallow obvi." As it turned out, the broadcast later showed a replay of the incident, and it was determined that Prescott had actually spit on Carter first, not the other way around.

Despite this, Kelce stood by his initial comment. Prescott later spoke to reporters about the incident, saying he was surprised by Carter's actions.
