Karma Artists, a London-based management and publishing company, is taking a bold step to bridge the gap between British and Korean music industries. Founded in 2012 by Jordan Jay, a former Universal Music Group executive, the company is working with UK trade bodies and government agencies to establish an annual writing camp.
This initiative aims to bring South Korean artists, songwriters, and producers to Britain for collaborations with Karma Artists' roster of writers and producers. The goal is to foster creative exchanges between British and Korean music artists and writers, potentially leading to innovative and exciting new sounds.
Karma Artists has already made significant strides in the Asian music scene, with its writers contributing to tracks by prominent K-pop groups such as Fifty Fifty, WayV, and Seventeen. Some of these projects have even crossed over to US charts, a testament to the company's growing influence. Over the past three years, Jay and his team have made multiple trips to Asia to build relationships with artists and producers in the region.
This groundwork has paid off, with Karma Artists' songwriters attending writing camps in Seoul, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Hong Kong. These collaborations have resulted in work with artists like Moon Tang, A20, and Lee Young Ji.
