The Mean Girls musical has made a successful debut at the box office, grossing $34.5 million worldwide in its opening weekend, exceeding the original film's opening weekend takings. "There are things written between the lines that aren't necessarily said but that I think are implied by the way that Tina adapted it, and then by the way that we also adapted it which makes me like it a lot," said a fan of the show.
